Livermore Associates provided Structural Engineering Design Services for the building alterations required to install four crystalgrowing autoclaves at the existing Toyocom facility. (Gary Livermore was Principal-in- Charge for the 1999 construction of the original Autoclave and Office Buildings.)
The approximate 3'-0" diameter, 48'-0" long, 100,000 pound autoclaves were installed through openings in the existing roof structure approximately 95'-0" above the ground floor level. Modifications were made to the existing building roof structure, as well as to the lower equipment platform bracing to allow for the installation. Removable roof hatches were installed over the new autoclaves for future access.
A four-level autoclave maintenance platform was also provided in the autoclave building for service, loading and unloading of the original eight autoclaves.
