Livermore Associates provided Structural Engineering Design Services for an addition to the existing tank farm at the Yamasa Soy Sauce Facility. An elevated maintenance platform and related foundations were constructed as part of the improvements. Platforms were constructed to match the elevation of existing platforms and provide access to the top of ten new 18'-0" diameter soy sauce tanks. A 4'-0" deep trench was provided for piping between the two rows of new tanks.
During the development of construction documents, Livermore Associates coordinated the process piping layout and support with mechanical and electrical designers. Platform floor framing matches outline of tank diameter. A seismic expansion joint was provided at the interface between existing and new platforms.
Lateral force resisting system for platforms are braced frames in one direction and steel moment frames in the other. Foundations and floor of tank farm consist of a concrete mat foundation.
